Still Life After Death

Still Life studies are a classic right a passage for any artist and more so flowers for a photographer. A play on words, this series of photos studies dead/decaying flowers and the art of still life.

The flowers are left to decay exactly as they were arranged for display when alive, with photographs taken during the process of decay. One image is selected that shows the finesse and delicate detail that is arguably more beautiful than the living thing.

The slightly disturbing title is perhaps the only hint that what you are facing is death. However flowers have an intimate relationship with death as they are what we use to mark life passing.

Still Life After death has been highly commended in both the International Photography Awards and International Colour Awards.
