New works forged in Black Mountains (16/06/15)

course3

I’ve long thought about doing an MA. Never been quite sure why. Maybe to focus some ideas. Find something I thought was missing? Tick some boxes to get higher up the art career ladder? But time and money never clicked. Instead I joined Cannon Hill Art School. This is a course built upon the ideas on the influential Black Mountain College. It has been interesting in many ways. We even had a lecture by Cornelia Parker. The result is that I have finally managed to complete the first piece in a project I have been working on for a long time.

See the results on the projects page or see it at The MAC Birmingham until 6 September 2015

There is much more to come….

Look at you! (Mar 2012)

“Should we tell someone to look at an artist similar to them?

What does this achieve?

Wouldn’t it be better to suggest looking at something different?

Something to expand their world rather than a mirror to make them unsure of themselves?
